BHR Productions is seeking an archive researcher who can also serve as a rights and reproduction coordinator for a documentary film. The project relies primarily on archival material which involves numerous still images and some film footage from the silent era as well as later footage (1915-1932).
The production company is based in NYC and the position requires being in NYC. Working knowledge of FileMaker Pro and Final Cut Pro is useful.
Project requires:
-Working with an established collection of images to choose those of appropriate quality.
-Determine copyright status of images and other materials, negotiate and clear rights/permissions, and acquire digital files from external providers and rights owners where needed.
-Update and maintain documentation for copyright permissions.
-Provide due diligence for potential orphan works.
-Knowledge of historical events and use of stock footage and images in documentary.
-Determine where other images might be needed.
-Experience in archiving and editing, as well as post-production skills.
-Research and compilation of multi format media materials (film, videotape, digital files).
