The Department of Records and Information Services seeks an experienced full-stack developer to work with the Municipal Archives and Municipal Library to assist in the development of a digital platform for preservation and access. The ideal candidate will be eager to work collaboratively with a dynamic group of digital archivists, librarians, and developers to build products that will allow the Department to preserve and provide access to large amounts of born digital and digitized archival materials. The Digital Platform will customize and integrate open-source software tools such as Fedora Commons, Solr, Archivematica, ArchivesSpace, and Hyrax / Hyku.
Required Skills
· Front-End Development (JavaScript, HTML, and CSS)
· Back-end Development (e.g. Ruby, Java, Python)
· Relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL)
· Familiarity with open-source library and archives software
· Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
· System Administration and Shell Scripting (Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Bash Scripting, Python, Vagrant, RHEL, Ubuntu)
· Experience using versioning software such as Git and Github to manage collaborative projects
· Experience writing unit tests and integrating with continuous integration tools
· Ability to plan and prioritize work and meet project deadlines
· Able to work both in a team and individually
· Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
· Experience with XML-based library and archives metadata standards, such as Encoded Archival Description (EAD), MARCXML, MODS, Dublin Core, and METS, as well as XSLT stylesheets associated with their transformation
Preferred Skills
· Experience working with and contributing to open-source software tools
· Experience with Fedora Commons Repository and ActiveFedora
· Strong understanding of UX and accessibility best practices
Salary
· $60 per hour, July – December 2020
· Total = $40,950
