The State Archives seeks an energetic and motivated research room administrator to work with visitors to support and foster research in the archives collections. This position assists researchers including determining their needs, suggesting resources, and providing guidance on the available equipment. The position performs historical research upon request; greets and provides initial assistance to visitors; and promotes the State Archives and its holdings to stakeholders and the general public. In addition, the position processes, reviews, and prepares financial forms; calculates and compiles financial data for reports; processes financial transactions on a cash register and credit card machine; answers correspondence including mail, email and telephone requests; supports archival staff with office-related requests; assigns work and provides guidance to volunteers; administers the research room and ensures the safety and security of the collections being utilized; purchases and inventories supplies; processes microfilm inter-library loans; performs minor maintenance on office equipment; and performs computer operations using word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems.

Licenses and Certifications:
A valid SD Drivers license (or if moving from out of state, able to transfer out of state license upon arrival)

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Bachelors Degree in history, public history, or archival studies.
