Please include instructions for how to apply.: This position reports to the Head of Special Collections and Archives and will help chart the library’s long-range plans for cataloging and metadata initiatives. The Metadata Librarian evaluates and implements existing and new content standards for continued resource access and discovery by providing organization and bibliographic control of library resources in all formats and all encoding levels with an emphasis on Special Collections materials.
Performs original and copy cataloging for cartographic materials in Special Collections. Performs original and copy cataloging for Special Collections non-cartographic materials in all formats. Creates and maintains MARC records for archival collections to upload to OCLC; reviews non-MARC format archival finding aids to upload to Texas Archival Resources Online (TARO). Leads discussion and training for new cataloging and metadata policy, best practices, and workflows. Participates in cross functional campus or Library teams. Performs other duties as assigned.
