Please include instructions for how to apply.: We are looking for an archivist to help us inventory, organize, label, preserve and digitize our family archives. The archives consist of photos, letters, ledgers, audio tapes, and ephemera from many generations of our family. They also include materials from our family business, a private psychiatric hospital, and also some materials from historical buildings in Long Beach. There are about 25 – 30 archive boxes in the collection. We would like someone to develop a plan for organizing this archive and then execute the plan. The proposal should include an estimated length of time for the project and estimated costs, including compensation for the archivist. The schedule and hours can be flexible and will initially need to be onsite at our home in Long Beach in order to inventory the collection. We would like an individual who appreciates and knows how to organize family archives, is an independent self starter but can work along side the family representative, has excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy and can lift archive boxes up to 40 pounds. Familiarity with the latest digitization techniques is critical. We are ready to start the project when we find the right person. It will be a fun, interesting and relaxed project.
