Please include instructions for how to apply.: CONSULTING PROJECT ARCHIVIST CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY California Lutheran University seeks a Consulting Project Archivist to complete processing a collection of government records and to create a searchable finding aid for the collection in accordance with accepted archival standards and practices. Reflecting rich local, state, and national history, the collection is currently housed on the Cal Lutheran campus in Thousand Oaks, CA. Fee scale in the mid $20K range. The archivist will be retained on an independent contractor basis. DELIVERABLES: • A fully developed and implemented processing plan for the collection. • Collection materials clearly organized and described by record group, topic, series, and date using foldering, boxing, and labeling techniques according to generally accepted archival standards. • Collection contents consistently categorized and reflected in a searchable and easily accessible finding aid. • Access protocols and policies developed in conjunction with Pearson Library staff and documented in a public guide to the collection. • Processing tasks for student assistants and other staff clearly assigned and thoroughly documented in associated training materials. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: • Experience working with archives, preferably in an academic institution. • Demonstrated knowledge of archival methodology and preservation techniques. • Experience arranging and describing archival collections using national standards for creating finding aids. • Experience using an archival management tool. • Ability to manage projects and tasks while meeting deadlines. • Experience overseeing interns, student workers, or other staff on relevant projects. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative manner with students, faculty, and staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters in Library Science with coursework in archives, an archives certification, or a graduate degree in a related field with a minimum of two years relevant experience. A demonstrated understanding of established archival standards, tools, and processes.
