Grade: R38 – $23.07/hour
Reporting to the Digital Collections Specialist, the Bibliographic Assistant III manages a team of student workers and conducts day-to-day digitization operations within the Metadata and Digitization Services department. Ensures that library materials, some of which may be rare or fragile, including photographs, pamphlets, manuscripts, audio and video recordings, are digitized and published on the web by student workers and other staff, with high standards of quality. The Bibliographic Assistant III also supports the Digital Collections Specialist with advanced data cleanup, and as time permits, creates or adapts metadata records and digitizes library materials. Participates in other digital library projects as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a hybrid position (on-campus and remote).
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience working in a library or related setting. Experience with digitizing images, textual, audio, or video materials. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated understanding of purpose and use of digital collections in research and learning.
*Familiarity with structured bibliographic catalog or other metadata standards like Dublin Core, and with the use of controlled vocabularies.
*Demonstrated supervisory experience.
*Adept with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
*Ability to work in a web-based computing environment.
*Strong attention to detail, and proofreading skills, when reviewing work by others.
*Strong verbal and written communication skills.
*Ability to work independently and in teams.
*Experience publishing digital objects in a repository platform like CONTENTdm.
*Experience with the Microsoft 365 suite and Google Apps
*Knowledge of metadata or text-manipulation software tools, such as Open Refine, as well as batch upload processes.
*Coursework in archives or library and information science
