Job Description (if URL to posting not available). Please include instructions for how to apply.: SWIB’s new Paralegal/Records Specialist will join a talented team. The Paralegal/Records Specialist position will play an integral role in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment and will support legal services related to agency contracts, state statutes, and agency policies, and be the primary contact for public records requests and records management. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to learn the inner workings of an asset-management firm and the legal team’s role in supporting SWIB’s core mission. The individual will join a team with a strong culture of mentorship and career-long learning.
Essential activities:
• Log, track, and prepare responses to public records requests
• Assist the legal department with the preparation and review of standards procurement contracts
• Provide administrative and transactional support to SWIB’s legal staff
• Develop and implement short and long-term Records and Information (RIM) strategies and policies for SWIB. Manage the daily RIM program at SWIB. (Records may include paper files, electronic files, network file share, instant messaging, and email.)
• Develop and provide periodic training and updates to SWIB staff regarding records retention policies and processes. Educate new employees on SWIB’s records management program during new employee orientation. Send out periodic records updates and reminders to staff via the internal newsletter and email.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Associates degree required, Bachelor’s degree in pre-law, economics, finance or business preferred
• Paralegal and/or Certified Records Manager certification preferred
• Ability to conduct legal research on electronic databases
• Experience reviewing or preparing contracts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• An ability to be adaptive and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
