The Assistant Archivist assists the Archdiocesan Archivist to collect, preserve, and make available the official records of the Archdiocese and those ancillary records that reflect the work of the Catholic Church within the region of the Archdiocese. The Assistant Archivist accomplishes this by processing records, reference duties, and social media outreach. Other duties as assigned.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.* Identifies, collects, arranges, describes and preserves records in the archives. Describes collections in ArchivesSpace using DACS.
2.* Provides access to the collection for archdiocesan offices, parishes, and the general public.
3.* Maintains statistics on reference requests, catalog records created, and volume of data accessioned into the archives.
4.* Performs outreach through social media.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires one to two years’ experience in an archive, including processing records and writing finding aids; familiarity and knowledge of archival best practices. Preferred Master’s degree in Public History, Archives Management or Library Science (with specialization in Archives Management); possess work experience in diocesan, parish or other religious organizational setting.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hourly, 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week, 260 Days, 12 months

Employees of the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati will have knowledge of the Catholic faith, a willingness to work for a Catholic, faith-based agency and adhere to the policies of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
