History Associates (HAI) is excited to announce we are seeking two experienced full-time archivists with collections inventory and processing experience to work on a short-term project in the City of Manhattan Beach. This project is expected to start January 9, 2023 and end February 17, 2023; approximately six weeks.

HAI is a professional historical services firm providing customized historical, archival, digital archives, records management, museum and exhibit services to industry, the professions, government, and non-profit organizations for over forty years.

Job Responsibilities
The Archivists will assist in conducting an inventory and in general clean-up of historical collections. Alongside a team of museum professionals, and under the supervision of the Project Manager, work will include verifying specific catalog fields and physically sorting through collection and non-collection items.

The position will involve both working independently and with other project staff in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively communicate and meet strict deadlines while achieving accurate data processing and accountability for the collections.

Education Requirements
Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, History, or other applicable field

Experience Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of experience working on archives projects
• Strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite
• Understanding of and experience in conducting a museum inventory
• Demonstrated practical knowledge of collections policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently and to exercise discretion, initiative, and judgment
• Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills
