Please include instructions for how to apply.: The Mary and Jeff Bell Library at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for the Director of Special Collections and Archives, a non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Senior Librarian. Rank will be determined upon qualifications and experience. The Director will provide leadership, vision, and support for the Special Collections and Archives Department. They will ensure the accessibility of research collections in a variety of formats by leading department personnel in the acquisition, preservation, processing, and cataloging of collections according to professional standards and best practices, and in providing research assistance service to library users.

The successful candidate will identify departmental goals and objectives and provide leadership in fulfilling them. They will formulate and implement policies; and evaluate departmental operations and services in the context of library and university mission, values, and goals. The Director will manage and evaluate the work of the unit’s faculty and staff positions, facilitating their professional growth, and encouraging participatory leadership within the unit.

The Director will work collaboratively with the Dean of University Libraries, Institutional Advancement, and Marketing and Communications to participate in public outreach and networking activities. They will work with the Dean to pursue opportunities to support and expand the work of Special Collections through foundations and fundraising. The Director will seek grants and other external funding in support of departmental initiatives and collections and administer grants awarded.

The new Director will join the team at an exciting time – offering leadership and development in the establishment of a strategic new location in a University building in downtown Corpus Christi. They will build and maintain relationships throughout the campus and local community to increase their connection and engagement, actively pursuing undocumented and underrepresented histories. The Director will work closely with donors to identify and acquire unique and rare materials related to the development of the South Texas region and will develop community access to and support for the collection through contacts with and presentations to community members.

As with all faculty librarian positions at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the Director of Special Collections and Archives will participate in professional and scholarly activity and will serve on library, university, and professional committees.
