The GLBT Historical Society collects, preserves, exhibits and makes accessible to the public materials and knowledge to support and promote understanding of LGBTQ history, culture and arts in all their diversity. Founded in 1985, the society is recognized internationally as a leader in the field of LGBTQ public history. The GLBT Historical Society is a registered 501(c)3 educational nonprofit organization.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Project Archivist will perform key archival duties, including processing, digitization, and outreach, in two grant-funded projects supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the California State Library. Reporting to the Director of the Dr. John P. De Cecco Archives and Special Collections, the Project Archivist is responsible for processing selected collections and writing finding aids, selecting material for digitization and digitizing material, participating in publicity and outreach activities related to the grant objectives, and assisting with grant administration, including writing reports. The Project Archivist ensures that all archival programs strive for inclusion and diverse representation of LGBTQ history. This is an on-site (no remote work), full-time, 1 year-long term position, projected to begin April 3, 2023.
