The primary purpose of the position is for the archivist to collaborate with other description archivists to incorporate digital records processing into their workflows. This position works directly with the Digital Services Section to ensure the seamless transition of born-digital and digitized records from creating agencies to the digital repository. Occasional Saturday work in the Archives’ Public Services Unit (Search Room) will be required.
The key responsibilities of the position include serving as a specialist in arranging and describing born-digital content. This position will also provide a wide range of archival services such as:
– appraising records for archival value;
– performing preservation actions on born-digital records;
– processing records of all formats (including audio-visual);
– increasing access by producing descriptive metadata;
– providing timely and accurate reference services for processed and unprocessed collections;
– researching and applying confidentiality statutes to restricted materials
