Reporting to the Head of Archival Processing, the Archivist provides coordination and management of archival collections processing related to the enhanced discoverability of the rare and unique holdings of Small Special Collections.
The Archivist will arrange and describe archival materials in both physical and digital format. The person in this position will be responsible for processing identified and prioritized archival collections which includes evaluating, organizing, and describing primary resource materials, following national and local standards in appropriate discovery platforms. This position may also support accessioning work as appropriate.
The successful candidate will have experience working with born-digital archives. The person in this position will work closely with the Head of Archival Processing, Accessioning Archivist, University Archivist, and Digital Preservation Librarian to develop and implement policies and processes for the routine acquisition, preservation, and access to born-digital archival materials including email, websites, social media, and other electronic records. This position will also help coordinate and train individuals with processing born digital materials.
In addition, this position will play a key role in implementing a reparative framework for both new acquisitions and materials in the backlog. They will work in collaboration with other divisions of the Library to develop innovative methods of describing and disseminating library material, reflecting the newest developments in the field.
