The UX Designer works with digital archivists and librarians on a very regular basis, and particularly the designer would would helping to design systems (digital asset management products) that pertain to digital archives discovery and access like open source Blacklight and Arclight products which are widely used in archives community for display and discovery of archival collections.
The job also sits within the Digital Library Systems and Services that supports the entire Libraries, in terms of providing digital access and digital preservation to collections (E.g., collaborates regularly with Archives of Recorded Sound, Stanford Special Collections, University Archives, display of AV in Stanford Digital Repository embed tool, etc). This requires the designer to do a lot of collaboration with archivists and librarians to understand their needs and researchers’ needs.
