Museum and Collector Resource, LLC (MCR) is seeking a paid Summer Archival Intern to support a time-bound archival processing project at a site located in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky (Cincinnati/Covington area). The intern will be selected according to experience, academic background, availability, and aptitude.
Position Summary:
The intern will perform hands-on archival processing and preventive conservation work under the direct supervision of the Archivist. This position is entirely on-site, project-based, and back- of-house in nature. The internship is dedicated to archival processing activities and will not involve public-facing responsibilities such as reference services or reading room coverage.
The internship will focus on a defined subset of materials identified for stabilization and processing during the internship period. This subset will be treated as a discrete sub-collection and will serve as the intern’s primary project. The intern will participate in virtual and in-person meetings with MCR staff and clients. The intern will also have the opportunity to visit area museums and archives with the Archivist to see behind the scenes and learn from staff members at those institutions.
By the conclusion of the internship period, the selected materials will have undergone preventive conservation and been physically and intellectually organized. The work will include the application of industry metadata standards and descriptors and will result in a finding aid or cumulative report suitable for internal review and future accessioning or access workflows.
The rate of pay is $15.00/hour. The internship schedule is somewhat flexible, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., three days a week, with a minimum commitment of 250 hours during summer 2026. The internship is structured to meet common academic credit requirements, but candidates seeking to receive class credit should confirm eligibility with their academic program. The proposed start date is between May 15 and June 15, 2026.
