Department Information
Wylie House Museum advances the academic mission of Indiana University by engaging visitors in immersive, research-driven explorations of the past. Built in 1835 as the home of IU¿s first president, Andrew Wylie, the historic residence now operates as a unit of IU Libraries. The museum collects, preserves, interprets, and provides access to the Wylie family home, its archival materials, and its nineteenth-century artifact collections. As one of the few academic historic house museums in the country, Wylie House is both a public cultural resource and an active learning environment for university courses, researchers, and students seeking hands-on professional experience.
