We are currently looking for a Full Time Archival Technician to join our Cultural Center Archives team located at the Chickasaw Cultural Center working 8:00AM-5:00PM – Mo Tu We Th Fr.

Summary:
Performs work in the accession, allocation, arrangement, storage, maintenance and servicing of records. This also includes professional archival services in digitization practices such as imaging of still images, photographs, and documents, and cataloging digital material within the Chickasaw Cultural Center digitization platform.

Responsibilities:
* Daily operations in archives within the Chickasaw Nation Collection and the Holisso: Center for Study of Chickasaw History and Culture, which consists of documents, photographs, maps, etc. related to the history of the Chickasaw Nation
* Locating records and work with conservators to clean, repair, and preserve archival material
* Maintains archival collections management information, including up-to-date shelf list inventory
* Familiarity with the principles of provenance, original order, and levels of intellectual of control. They will apply advanced knowledge in policies, procedures, archival theory, professional standards, appraisal, imaging, metadata, and archival outreach
* Evaluates the accuracy of records while understanding scanning specifications, software, metadata and cataloging while working alongside other team members performing similar work.
* Use discretion, independent judgment, and innovation to image and catalog materials
* Provide reference services to internal and external audiences by providing access, interpreting finding aids, giving instruction on the proper handling of materials and providing knowledge of the documents and photographs relevant to the researcher’s needs
* Research, plans, develops and implements long and short-range goals for the archives department with approval from Senior Manager, Archives and Director
* Operates computer systems, standard office equipment, microfilm reader/printer, scanners, digital camera, write reports and software pertinent to digitization
* May offer training to Chickasaw Nation staff about digitization processes
* Works to publicize the collections including utilizing collections for outreach, curriculum, and exhibits
* Trains and supervises interns, summer youth, and volunteers
* Processes and describes collection material according to archive standards, including rehousing, physical arrangement and creating finding aids
* Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
– Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
– Maintains and promotes professionalism
– Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
– Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
* Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area

* Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management

* Bachelors Degree in directly related field
