Earlier this summer, I was thrilled to hear that Archives Gig and Naomi House’s INALJ have been jointly recognized by the Council of the Society of American Archivists for an Exemplary Service Award. I was able to attend the 2024 SAA annual meeting in Chicago and accept this award in person, and I was very honored.
Continue reading “Archives Gig is recognized by an SAA Council Exemplary Service Award!”Greetings, friends! I am going to attend the SAA Annual meeting in Chicago from August 15-17 next week, and I hope to see many of you there. After that, I am taking leave through the end of the month due to a family health issue. My current plan is to be back after Labor Day weekend. Archives Gig will not be active while I’m away.
I know this means I may miss some postings, for which I apologize! If you are an employer and have something pending for me to post, I will need it by the end of the day on Wednesday, August 14.
I will be on vacation from April 26 – May 10, and Archives Gig will not be updated while I am away. If you would like to send me anything to post before these dates, please submit it by the end of the day on Thursday, April 25. Anything sent after that time will be posted when I return.
Best Wishes,
Meredith
Hi, Friends,
I’m co-presenting a webinar in a few weeks to members of the Council of State Archivists (CoSA). The folks attending are very curious about what is working and what is not when they are hiring. I threw together an extremely brief survey – I would super appreciate your help as a little sample of what people are thinking about when it comes to state archives positions.
This is for USA-based state archives positions only. Federal jobs or archives jobs other Federal/state/municipal agencies aren’t being considered here. Here’s a directory of state archives agencies.
Note: I may quote a little bit from the survey responses when giving the presentation but I am not asking for identifying information. Just be aware.
The survey will close on Tuesday, March 26. Thank you!
Emily Weak over at Hiring Librarians is conducting a survey, intended to be completed by people who hire library and LIS workers. More info under the cut!

Continue reading “Plug: Hiring Librarians Survey for LIS Hiring Managers”I had the pleasure of chatting with Emily Weak over at Hiring Librarians a few months ago, for her new podcast series! In case you missed it, the episode dropped last week. I hope you enjoy it.
Happy 2024, Archives Friends. Keep being amazing.
I know I just was away (and I finally worked through all my backlog, thanks for your patience!). But, I’m out once more and for a bit longer, leading an international program. If you would like your position to be posted before I’m out, please do that by noon (CT) on Friday, August 25. Otherwise, it will be posted when I return, during the week of September 18. Please check your application deadline before submitting, and make sure it doesn’t fall within the outage period. Thanks, everyone!
I’ll be away from Archives Gig from August 4-13, on an annual vacation. If you have something you’d like me to post before I go, please ensure that you send me that item by the end of the day on Wednesday, August 3.
I interrupt your usual job posting news with a bit of news about a program I’m running this fall! Registration is open for this tour, and it is open to everyone who works in, studies, or loves libraries, regardless of whether you have a relationship with the University of Wisconsin. (Due to the tour timing, unfortunately I cannot bring folks who will be current UW students during the dates of the tour, though). If you’re interested learning more about this tour to Scotland, please check out the tour website. Any questions can be directed to me at mclowe@wisc.edu.
