Archives Gig is on a break from August 28 – Sept 15

I know I just was away (and I finally worked through all my backlog, thanks for your patience!). But, I’m out once more and for a bit longer, leading an international program. If you would like your position to be posted before I’m out, please do that by noon (CT) on Friday, August 25. Otherwise, it will be posted when I return, during the week of September 18. Please check your application deadline before submitting, and make sure it doesn’t fall within the outage period. Thanks, everyone!

[TOUR IS FULL] Librarians’ Tour of Scotland, September 4-14, 2023

Innerpeffray Library Tour

I interrupt your usual job posting news with a bit of news about a program I’m running this fall! Registration is open for this tour, and it is open to everyone who works in, studies, or loves libraries, regardless of whether you have a relationship with the University of Wisconsin. (Due to the tour timing, unfortunately I cannot bring folks who will be current UW students during the dates of the tour, though). If you’re interested learning more about this tour to Scotland, please check out the tour website. Any questions can be directed to me at mclowe@wisc.edu.

Take a Look! The 2021 NDSA Staffing Survey Report is out!

Take a look at this survey project report from the National Digital Stewardship Alliance! There’s info in there that may be relevant to job seekers, like what respondents said are top skills for digital preservationists. There’s also lots of information about how organizations are staffed, who is doing the work, and challenges.

Thanks so much to the NDSA staffing survey working group and its co-chairs for this important work!

Flash sale on upcoming online CE courses!

Hi, readers! I briefly interrupt the usual stream of job postings to highlight two upcoming continuing education courses offered through the UW-Madison iSchool (my home base!). I have highlighted two classes that I think may interest Archives Gig readers. We’re offering special pricing for these two classes for a very limited time!

NEW! Licensing Digital Content: Vendors, Contracts, and Library Users (June 20 – August 14): Normally $325, now 50% off with discount code ischool50 – apply at checkout.
Bam! Now you can take this class for $162.50. But hurry – it starts next week, so register soon!

Introduction to Digital Preservation (July 11 – Sept 4): Get an extra 10% off of the already-discounted early bird registration price! The early bird discount expires on June 26, use discount code ischool10 at checkout to get this class, normally priced at $325, for $263! Discount expires on June 26.

These are asynchronous instructor-led online courses, eligible for non-credit CE hours. You are expected to log in at least once per week to completely weekly tasks, and we estimate it will take you 2-3 hours per week to complete the work.

No Postings April 18-21

I am going to be away for a bit next week, and Archives Gig will not be updated while I am out. If you would like to send me anything to post before these dates, please submit it by the end of the day on Friday, April 15. Anything sent after that time will be posted when I return.
