– Research and record the origins and historical significance of collected materials. Locate desirable additions to the collection and facilitate their acquisition
– Follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives to improve the unit’s performance; suggest improvements as identified
– Help develop standard responses and guidelines for queries, and apply them in a consistent manner
– Organize archival records; use classification systems that will facilitate access to archival material; and set retention schedules
– Authenticate and appraise historical documents and archival materials; store them in a logical manner under optimal conditions for preservation; ensure that all collected items and information have been accurately catalogued;
– Follow established policies and procedures to safeguard archived information against accidental or unauthorized modification, loss, or other damage; help other departments understand and follow the processes
– Establish program offerings and develop measures to determine program effectiveness
– Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree in History, Anthropology, Sociology, or other relevant field
– 2-5 years of cataloguing and archival record work experience
– Strong research skills and attention to detail
– Very good planning and project management skills
– Strong oral and written skills in both Arabic and English, with the ability to articulate information clearly and concisely
– Proficiency in MS Office applications.
