Please include instructions for how to apply.: William & Mary Libraries seeks a talented, innovative, positive and thoughtful individual for the position of University Archivist, who has demonstrated the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Applicants should have knowledge and experience in archives, outreach, and working with various stakeholders to ensure the acquisition and management of university records and other historical materials.

Some of the major responsibilities of this position include:

• Develops and implements a collection development policy for university archives; actively engages in acquiring, preserving, accessioning, arranging, and describing materials of permanent historical value, for documenting the history and functions of the university

• Takes an active role in promoting university archives, special collections, and university history, and supports the library’s digital initiatives through active outreach.

• Provides reference and library instruction to users of special collections.

• Participates as an active and engaged professional faculty member of William & Mary Libraries, trains and supervises staff, students, and volunteers, and serves on library and university committees as appropriate.
