If so, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is seeking a Director, Library and Archival Services for our Itasca, Illinois Headquarters. This individual will direct the projects, staff, and operations of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) library services and the Gartner Pediatric History Center. Provide primary oversight for the AAP copyright compliance policy and activities.

A Masters degree in library, archival, or information science from an ALA-accredited school is required. Minimum five years’ related experience as a librarian, including experience supervising staff, managing budgets, and managing copyright compliance. Expertise in copyright principles required. Familiarity with archival work and knowledge management. Experience with evidence-based medicine/systematic review process strongly preferred. Previous work in a health care organization a plus.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, diplomacy, and verbal/written communication skills required. Must be a strong leader who promotes and maintains a positive and cooperative team-oriented work environment, with a commitment to diversity. Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with various internal and external constituents. Strong technical acumen essential with proficiency in MS Office, knowledge and understanding of evolving content management systems and related digital technologies, and the ability to learn and apply new technologies; experience with virtual meeting platforms (eg, WebEx) preferred. Familiarity with historical research and archival practices, medical associations and health care concepts helpful. Some evening/weekend work and travel required.
