Please include instructions for how to apply.: Duties include but are not limited to: working with division management in developing and implementing a comprehensive preservation program for the division, assesses individual items for conservation treatments, proposes treatments, performs complex conservation activities, trains unit and other division staff in various conservation functions, and offers assistance in solving conservation problems. The conservator assesses items requested for loan and/or exhibition and makes recommendations for any preservation needs or restrictions. The conservator works with their manager to coordinate any conservation work done on Archives’ collections by outside conservation labs. The position supervises the work of one Conservation Technician involved primarily in doing basic conservation treatment, creating custom housings, and assisting with loans and exhibits. The conservator must be able to work independently; develop and maintain effective working relationships with other agency staff, government officials, and the public; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
