The Senior Library Specialist works in the Special Collections and Archives Department to manage the department’s administrative functions and assist with collections maintenance and public service delivery. The primary objectives of the position are to administer the day-to-day activities of the department, supervise student employees, assist with the processing and preservation of multiformat collections, provide information services to various patron groups and users, and liaise with institutional and external parties on behalf of the SCA Department. This person works independently with minimal supervision, using technological platforms typically used in library and archives environments. Reports directly to the Rare Books and Special Collections Librarian and works cooperatively with colleagues in the department and other associates in the library and on campus. Duties include: Managing student employees. Serving as the initial point of contact for patron services and access to collections, in person or remotely. Maintaining department communications and records related to donors, vendors, suppliers, and institutional partners. Serving as the liaison with the Technical Services Department, which includes cataloging and the digitization unit. Maintaining patron registration database, collection usage statistics, and other departmental records. Collaborating with other SCA staff on the acquisition of new materials and prioritizing the processing backlog.
