Special Collections and Archives at the University Library at California State University, Northridge, is seeking an intern who will apply archival theories of arrangement and description as well as preservation best practices while fully processing photographic archival collections over the course of one quarter under the supervision of the Tom and Ethel Bradley Center Archivist and the Head of Special Collections and Archives. Tasks will include creation and execution of a processing plan or plans, full physical arrangement, basic preservation and rehousing, the creation of DACS-compliant EAD finding aids, and a public outreach activity (e.g., writing a blog post).

Qualifications: Verified enrollment in an accredited Library and Information Science graduate program. Ability to work independently and in consultation with other staff; strong oral and written communication skills; research skills; interest in photography; coursework in archival administration, history, or information science. Experience in archival work not required.

Hours: Interns must evenly distribute hours over the course of the semester/quarter, according to a regular schedule determined in consultation with a supervisor at the beginning of the term. All hours must coincide with the department’s hours of operation (Monday – Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.)
