As part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota, the North Dakota State Archives promotes and encourages research of North Dakota through access to a broad collection of primary and secondary sources with patron-centered services and outreach. The Local Government Intern will gain hands-on experience with collection materials, making priority and potential condition assessments, as well as learning basic preservation practices – such as identifying, inspecting, rehousing, and describing archival materials. This experience would be beneficial to those considering a career in archives, records management, or similar field. Summary of Work
Under the supervision of the Local Government Records Archivist, the Local Government Intern will perform a repository wide collection level audit of Local Government Records to verify against our internal database the location, extent, condition, and accessibility status.
Many of the duties and tasks related to this project are repetitive, require an attention to detail and a degree of care as these are historical records.
On-site training will be provided.
