We are seeking an experienced, efficient archivist for a short-term project (approximately two months) based on-site in Boston. The project involves processing the personal files of five individuals—four deceased and one living, several of whom are publicly known figures.

Position Duties:
The archivist will sort and appraise a collection consisting of:
— appx. 12 cubic ft of material;
— Mixed media including, but not limited to, personal papers, sensitive records, audio and visual materials, and ephemera

Qualifications:
— MLIS or equivalent degree, specialization in Archive Management preferred or 2-5 years of experience in relevant work;
— Demonstrated experience processing manuscript collections, including appraisal and arrangement;
— Familiarity with the donation and acquisition processes of major repositories (Library of Congress experience a plus);
— Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential materials;
— Ability to work efficiently on-site and complete the project within the engagement window.

Hours & Compensation:
— On-site in Boston, MA; Monday-Firday, 40hrs/week at $35/hr
— Independent contractor; est. two-month contract
— Confidentiality agreement required
